Healthy Weight and Your Child empowers children ages 7-13 years old, with the support of their families, to reach a healthy weight and live a healthier lifestyle.


Program Description:

  • Evidence-based family lifestyle change program that focuses on healthy eating, physical activity and behavior change
  • Small group supportive environment
  • 15-week program that meets twice a week for 10 weeks and once a week for 5 weeks
  • Classes are 120 minutes
  • Provided by 2 certified facilitators
  • Each class includes discussion and physical activity; topics vary and include goal setting, healthy eating, portion control, food label reading, peer support and physical activity

  • Learn internal and external triggers
  • Understand food labels


  • Children ages 7-13 who have a BMI of the 95th percentile or higher
  • Referral and medical clearance from a health care provider
  • Adult caregiver available to attend each session with the participating child

  • Includes a 3 month family YMCA membership
