Childcare

The Y is proud to offer affordable childcare!

Since the 1960’s the YMCA of York and York County has been providing high-quality, affordable child care programs in York County. We offer child care for infants through elementary school. Our programs are licensed through the PA Department of Human Services. We are also recognized by Keystone STARS. All of our licensed programs accept payments from Child Care Works (CCW/CCIS). We also offer financial assistance through the generous contributions from donors to our Annual Support Campaign and the York County United Way. Scholarships for our preschool program are made possible through donations to the Education Income Tax Credit (EITC) program.

All of our programs create their curriculum to align with the PA Early Learning Standards. We strive to develop unique and enriching activities that encompass creative thinking, exploration of science and mathematics, inquiry, discovery, beginning/building literacy and community involvement. Physical activity and team building is offered through a variety of recreational games. Students have the opportunity to explore on their own through a variety of centers which include science, math, literacy, crafts, dramatic play, manipulatives and more.

During this unprecedented time, we have increased our cleaning protocols to provide a safe learning environment for all. Our Health and Safety Plan will be posted soon. Should you have any specific questions, please feel free to contact your director.

York Early Learning Center provides care for infants through preschool children at our downtown branch. Our center operates year-round, Monday – Friday from 5:45am – 6:00pm.

School Age Child Care is available for AM Care (6:30am-start of normal school day) and PM Care (end of school – 6:00pm). Care is also available on school holidays and scheduled closure days. We offer care in the Central York, Dover Area, Red Lion, Southeastern, Southern York, West York and York City School Districts. We are working with all of our districts to provide care based on the districts and families plan for this upcoming school year. We understand that plans may change as we continue to receive guidance to ensure everyone’s health and safety during this unprecedented time. Please contact your director to discuss your particular needs.
