SURVIVE AND THRIVE AFTER CANCER
Do you know someone who has been affected by cancer? With over 12 million cases in our country many of us have a friend, family member or a spouse who has been diagnosed with cancer. The YMCA of York and York County and the Hanover Area YMCA provide an evidence based program that helps cancer survivors and patients regain their physical and mental strength.
LIVESTRONG at the YMCA is a FREE 12 week program that supports cancer survivors in regaining their physical, emotional and spiritual strength. This health and wellness exercise program is conducted in a small group environment that includes individualized attention for each participant. Adult survivors are eligible to join the program during all stages of recovery. This program also serves and embraces the families and caregivers that have been affected by the disease through a free family membership throughout the course of the program.
Adult cancer survivors who are currently in or have completed treatment and are physically deconditioned are eligible to join the program free of charge. Currently, the LIVESTRONG at the YMCA program is offered at the Bob Hoffman Dover Branch, Southern Branch, York Branch and Hanover Y locations. Each facility includes a safe and secure parking lot, lockerrooms, Wellness Centers, group exercise classes, massage therapy and more.
