About The YMCA
Since 1855, the YMCA of York & York County has been applying Christian principles in response to community needs.  The YMCA is devoted to serving the community with programs that build healthy spirit, mind, and body while developing and practicing the principles of faith, hope, love, honesty, respect, and responsibility.  In our 154 year history, we have evolved from simply providing social opportunities to young rural men new to the City of York to a $6 million dollar agency overseeing a full range of services to residents of all ages.

Our programs include NAEYC-accredited child care, preschool, youth after school services, community development, housing and drug and alcohol counseling.  Naturally, we have a wide-range of fitness and sports program, featuring fitness centers and classes, gymnastics, aquatics, fencing, and youth and adult sports.  We operate four locations across York County:  the Downtown York Branch within the city limits, the Southern Branch in Shrewsbury, the Bob Hoffman branch in Dover, and since 2002, an Eastern branch in East York.  The Eastern Branch currently serves 800 members through various programs and activities such as summer day camp, swim lessons, older adult classes, youth sports and wellness and fitness classes.

We also operate the Hoffman Baseball/ Softball Academy, located on West Market Street, and a Gymnastics Academy on West Mason Ave. The YMCA recently completed renovating the city public pool, now known as the Graham Aquatic Center, located in the West End of York City near the Avenues neighborhood.
